Biography
Jim Andrus is the instructor of the Tuba studio at the University of Utah. He holds the position of Principal Tubist with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra in Boulder, CO and the Colorado Ballet Orchestra in Denver, CO. Additionally, Mr. Andrus has performed with ensembles such as the Utah Symphony, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and Denver Brass.
Mr. Andrus holds degrees from the University of Denver - Lamont School of Music (MM), and from the University of Utah (BM). In 2018, Andrus attended the Vancouver Symphony Orchestral Institute in Whistler, British Columbia, where he held the position of Principal Tuba in the festival Orchestra. While in Canada, Mr. Andrus was selected as a finalist in the University of British Columbia Chamber Festival concerto competition, performing the R. Vaughan Williams Concerto for Bass Tuba in the illustrious Chan Center on the campus of UBC. He can be heard on Hyperion Records, Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique, Utah Symphony Orchestra.
