Biography
Known for the elegance and breadth of her playing, Amy Bach performs as a soloist
and collaborative pianist in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her repertoire ranges from Granados
and Prokofiev to Boulanger, Psathas, and Dohnanyi. A frequent collaborator for instrumentalists,
Amy has accompanied vibes, tuba, and clarinet as well as all string instruments. She
has played locally in the US at the Bountiful/Davis Arts Center and abroad in Salles,
France at La Balie Candlelight Concerts and in Kent, England in Finchcocks Hall.
With creative programming and inviting verbal introductions, Amy designs audience
experiences that demystify Bach’s counterpoint, Debussy’s aural painting, and the
drama of Rachmaninoff. As a collaborator, Amy regularly accompanies degree recitals
and juries for both graduates and undergraduates at the University of Utah. She often
works with the studios of nine university professors, four of whom are members of
the Utah Symphony. Amy provides her collaborative partners with the foundational support needed to allow
them to excel in their performances. She helps musicians clarify their musical decisions
and make productive use of rehearsal time. Both backstage and in rehearsals she is
known for calming nerves, encouraging bolder interpretations, and championing vibrant
on-stage experiences. Awards for her collaborations include the ENKOR International
Competition and the SummerArts Competition at the University of Utah where she earned
two degrees in piano performance.Teaching Philosophy
