Vedrana Subotic plays Beethoven's Sonatas

Faculty pianist Vedrana Subotic continues her Beethoven concert series, which includes the great composer’s complete solo sonatas, collaborative sonatas, and piano trios. Subotic began the series in January 2014, and has so far played three concerts. This season she will present four more concerts: two on her own, and two joined by Utah Symphony colleagues. On November 16 and March 29, Subotic will play solo piano sonatas. On February 8, violinist Claude Halter and cellist Anne Lee will join her for piano trios, and April 26 violinist Lun Jiang and cellist Pegsoon Whang will contribute their talents to the collaborative sonatas.
This series is a first for Utah audiences and a historic moment for the piano area. Subotic’s project creates a rare opportunity to hear Beethoven’s music develop from Classical beginnings to full-blown Romanticism in live performance. Subotic notes that there is a small number of Beethoven recitalists in the world, and fewer still who have performed a whole series like this one. “It is a journey, for sure!” she says of this monumental undertaking.
All of these concerts are presented as part of the School of Music Sundays@7 faculty artist series, and are free of charge.
