Keven Johansen has been an artist and educator for forty-three years. As an Adjunct Associate Professor of Music, he has directed ensembles, instructed classes, and taught privately for the University of Utah during the past Thirty-two years. He has had the privilege of performing with jazz talents such as Clark Terry, Roy Hargrove, Phil Woods, Stanley Turrentine, David “Fathead” Newman, Grover Washington Jr., Al Grey, Carl Fontana, Bill Watrous, Milt Jackson, Joey DeFrancesco, Brian Bromberg, and Louie Bellson.
As a member of The Great Basin Street Band, he was invited to perform at the 1999 Umbria Jazz Festival, in Perugia, Italy. The band was so well received that it was invited back for Umbria's Millennium Winterfest in Orvieto Italy.
He has also performed at every Salt Lake City International Jazz Festival, The Sun Valley Jazz Jamboree, the Telluride Jazz Festival, and has appeared often at The Jazz at the Hilton Series (now the GAM Foundation Concert Series), the Fidelity Investments Park City International Jazz Festivals, The Utah Jazz and Blues Festivals, The Utah Arts Festivals, the Park City Arts festivals, the Salt Lake Arts Council’s Brown Bag series, and he has performed concerts and clinics as part of the Utah Performing Arts Tour.
