In 2005, she began teaching piano privately and maintained a studio as she studied Piano Performance at the University of Utah. Her desire to teach piano was a driving motivation behind Katie as she completed her music degrees.

She served as Vice President for the Utah Music Teachers Association, University of Utah Student Chapter in 2009-2010, She also taught piano for the U Outreach Program.

Katie enjoys her opportunities to perform with instrumentalists, vocalists, choirs, plays, and orchestras when she is not teaching and caring for her three young children.

Teaching Philosophy

"Music is unlike anything else-it feeds, comforts and lifts the soul when words cannot.  Through diligent practice, all can master this beautiful art.  I wish to inspire students to develop a long lasting desire to create music. It is my greatest hope that their lives, and the lives of those around them, will be enriched with their music."
