Dr. Kasia Sokol-Borup coordinates the String Program for the Preparatory Division and teaches private violin lessons and group string classes.
Dr. Sokol-Borup performs solo and chamber music concerts in the United States, as well as Europe. She was an Assistant Professor at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado from 2007-2011, where she taught violin and viola. She was the Director and Conductor of the Durango Youth Symphony, concertmaster of the San Juan Symphony and a member of the Red Shoe Piano Trio. Dr. Sokol-Borup is the creator and music director of the Durango Chamber Music Festival. She has been on faculty of the Conservatory Music in the Mountains since 2008 and is a member of the Music in the Mountains Festival Orchestra.
A native of Poland, Dr. Sokol-Borup has studied with prominent artists such as Miriam Fried, Menahem Pressler and Almita Vamos. She has worked with some of this country’s most prominent pedagogues, including Mimi Zweig and Brenda Brenner.
