Biography
Karlyen Tan, NCTM teaches private piano lessons and musicianship classes for the Preparatory Division.
An alumna of the University of Utah School of Music, Karlyen studied with Gladys Gladstone Rosenberg for her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees. She holds a Professional Teaching Certificate from the Utah Music Teachers Association (UMTA) and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and is a MTNA National Permanent Professional Certified Teacher of Music in piano. Karlyen has taught with the Preparatory Division throughout her three decades of teaching experience.
Karlyen is an active member of the UMTA Salt Lake Chapter, Utah Federation of Music Clubs, and the Royal Conservatory of Music. She has been a performance adjudicator for many piano festivals and competitions throughout Utah, from Bountiful to St. George. She also serves on the NFMC Advisory Committee for Piano Concerto festivals.
